Tell me about your career goals.
I want to continually improve my work experience and expand my knowledge over a variety of fields. This gives me the opportunity to have multiple skills that an employer looks for in a long-term, career oriented individual.
Why did you initially reach out to Launch Her Career?
I was stuck. I had a job that I did not enjoy, and a background that I felt was very limiting on the job market. I reached out to Launch Her Career to prepare myself to make the next step into something I would want to do forever… even if I felt I didn’t have the necessary qualifications. Launch Her Career motivated me and helped me gain the confidence I needed to expand my expectations and ultimately obtain an amazing job!
Would you refer Launch services to a friend?
Absolutely! I was coached through various trial interview experiences, guided through different practices that employers are looking for and was assisted with my resume so I was able to walk in to an interview motivated, confident and prepared.
What is your long term career roadmap?
I am currently studying for my Engineering degree but am also interested in business. I want to earn my degree and be able to flourish at my new job that Launch helped me establish. The opportunity I was given at this job has never-ending possibilities and I look forward to developing a broad skill set that will allow me to create a valuable career for myself.
Are there any professional challenges you have recently overcome?
I currently do not have a degree and have always practiced one skill in my employment history. I felt like I was stuck in one field forever and that I didn’t have any other skills that a different field would want. I didn’t believe in myself to look further into a career that I felt unqualified for. Launch helped me overcome these fears and even find “hidden” skills to add to my resume that I had never even thought of!

Tell me about your career goals.
After graduation I would like to work at a pediatric urgent care center or emergency department. After a year or two of experience my plan is to return to school for my acute care certification so that I may be able to see higher acuity patients. I know that this will allow me to build extensive knowledge and prepare me to deliver care to children needing a higher level of care.
Why did you initially reach out to Launch Her Career?
I’m preparing to graduate and transition from the nurse to the nurse practitioner role. When I learned that I would be interviewing for my ideal job as an emergency department pediatric nurse practitioner I was told I would have three back to back interviews with physicians, nurse practitioners, chief of emergency department and director of the hospital. I knew that it was serious business and if I wanted to be considered I needed to be well prepared. I immediately thought of reaching out to Launch Her Career for guidance because I knew I would be given the tools to be well prepared.
Would you refer Launch services to a friend?
Absolutely! I received valuable feedback on how to effectively answer interview questions and I was able to prepare in a way I had never done before. It doesn’t matter what field you are in, Launch her Career can benefit everyone!
What is your long term career roadmap?
The years of personal experience as young patient and as a registered nurse have helped me build a strong foundation and sense of professional responsibility. It is my duty to continue this journey and further evolve in the nursing profession. The opportunity to transition from nurse to nurse practitioner will allow me to develop a broader skill set that will allow me to care for my patients on a wider spectrum and deliver high quality, well-rounded, culturally diverse yet appropriate medical nursing care to a varied set of patients.
My goal is to practice in an urgent care setting for at least 3-5 years and return to school for my acute care pediatric nurse practitioner certification. I’m also interested in working for either for a pediatric Infectious Disease specialty or a Child Abuse Investigation and Management Team, areas I’ve always been interested in because they are both dynamic and challenging. Building a Child Abuse Prevention program that can be integrated within hospital, clinic and in the community, is part of what I would like to do shortly after starting my career.
What is your personal statement?
“Nursing is an art: and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard a preparation, as any painter’s or sculptor’s work; for what is the having to do with dead canvas or dead marble, compared with having to do with the living body, the temple of God’s spirit? It is one of the Fine Arts: I had almost said, the finest of Fine Arts.” -Florence Nightingale
